Museum of Communism

The Museum of Communism in Prague chronicles the years of Communist rule in the present Czech Republic, from the introduction of the political model in 1948 until its fall in 1989 in the Velvet Revolution.

Throughout six sections (origins, dream, reality, nightmare, historical characters and Velvet Revolution), the museum touches on all aspects of communism in Prague, from daily life to propaganda and censorship .

It is advisable?

The museum is small but, if you like history and are willing to read, you will find it very interesting. During your tour you will see photographs and scenes of the communist era always accompanied by information panels. If you stop reading all the texts it will take about an hour to visit the museum.

If we consider the value of the museum by its number of rooms or the time it takes to visit it, it may seem expensive compared to the rest of the visits. If you consider it an original museum and different from the rest you will probably be delighted.

Hard to find

Being a small private museum can be difficult to find. The museum is located on the first floor of an old building. To find it you must access the alley of the Casino Palace Savarin at number 10 on the street Na Příkopě.
